Innovative Renewable Energy Solutions for Small to Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs)

Find out how you could benefit from a wide range of cost effective renewable energy solutions. Learn more about the support and funding that are available to help businesses and organisations in Dumfries and Galloway save money on energy costs, use their own waste for energy, and help save the environment.

Our speakers will be sharing their experiences of new and innovative technologies which are being used by businesses', in rural areas, to increase profitability, reduce costs and develop new business models. Some of the sectors which are now looking at these exciting technologies include farming, food processesing and manufacturing, retail and distribution, tourism and many more.

This free half-day workshop will provide you with the opportunity to:

• Find out how to generate income from the latest practical and affordable small scale renewable energy;
• Learn from the good practice and cutting edge experiences elsewhere in Europe;
• Learn about the policies and initiatives in Scotland to support renewable energy solutions for local businesses and organisations;
• Participate in workshops to explore how renewable energy and the MicrE* project could help your business;
• Find out about the support and funding available to help make renewable energy a viable solution for your business.

Who should attend?

• Any business or third sector organisations with an interest in using energy to economic advantage;
• Consultants, Business Advisers and trainers with an interest in renewable energy;
• Public sector organisations, developers, planners, engineers and other professionals with an interest in renewable energy;
• Academics and Researchers with an interest in knowledge transfer and learning in this area.

Some of the technologies to be explored in this seminar will include Microbial Fuel Cells, Hydrogen, Anaerobic Digestion, Micro Tidal and Food Waste to name a few. Come along and talk to businesses that are testing and adopting some of these cutting edge technologies to see if they could be of relevance to your business.

There are additional monies available to help fund a small number of feasibility studies for these developing technologies and members of the MicrE team will be on hand to discuss any specific issues.

*MicrE is a Northern Periphery Programme project funded by the EU that aims to help small to medium sized businesses (SMEs) in rural areas to adopt renewable energy solutions and by-product recovery. It achieves this by raising awareness of practical options and supporting and funding SMEs to explore viable solutions. For more information, log on to www.micre.eu.
